Welcome to Roy Municipal Schools

Home of the Mighty Longhorns!

Roy is a small, rural school with students coming in from all directions.  We are on a four-day school week and attend school from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday.  The highly qualified staff of Roy Municipal Schools is committed to ensuring our students the best educational experience possible.  As educators, our mission is to graduate all of our students as responsible and productive citizens with the necessary skills to continue with higher education, and then to compete in a global society.  We strive to ensure that our students and graduates will prosper socially, politically, and economically in our constantly changing world.  

In addition to our quality core curriculum, our small school is meeting the challenge of new technology.  We are fortunate and proud that each of our students has a school laptop on which to complete his or her work and stay connected to the ‘outside’ world.  Among our other educational tools is our partnership with Clovis Community College which offers our juniors and seniors college credit courses through ITV technology.  This gives our students the opportunity to ‘test the waters’ of college level classes in familiar comfort and safety, and with support from the teachers who have helped them to this point.  Some of our students graduate with enough college credits that they enter college very close to sophomore classification, without costing them or their parents a dime.

We are also extremely proud of our Mesa Online Academy.  A student from anywhere can now get the same quality education from the same staff and, upon completion of the online curriculum, receive a certificate stating that he or she has met New Mexico requirements for graduation.  The student can then receive a high school diploma, which is the first step to a successful and productive life.  Please take some time to check it out.

Our extracurricular activities include a local chapter of National Honor Society (NHS), a local chapter of Future Farmers of America (FFA), and a newly organized local chapter of Future Educators Association (FEA).  We also compete in volleyball, 6-man football, basketball, and track.

Feel free to browse our user-friendly and informative website.  We have calendars that will keep you up-to-date on everything from sports events to testing dates.  There are copies of our Lasso, both past and present.  We have a link to the Rough & Tough Embroidery business that began as an entrepreneurial class project and has become a prosperous business where two business women work and help our students learn as well.  We are constantly updating our website.  Please check back often to see what is happening at our school.
